Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, popularly referred to by the name Ashanti was born October 13 1981 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a singer songwriter and actor who hails from her native United States. Ashanti's talent was first discovered as a teen. She signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. In the same year, she made an appearance on Fat Joe's What's Luv? Ja Rule's single, Always on Time as well as Fat Joe's What's Luv? It was the first time for a female artist to have the first and second spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at first place and Luv? at number two. Luv? second place.
