Ashanti Shequoiya Douglas, popularly referred to by the name Ashanti was born October 13 1981 in Glen Cove New York United States. She is a singer songwriter and actor who hails from her native United States. Ashanti's talent was first discovered as a teen. She signed with Murder Inc. Records, in 2002. In the same year, she made an appearance on Fat Joe's What's Luv? Ja Rule's single, Always on Time as well as Fat Joe's What's Luv? It was the first time for a female artist to have the first and second spots on the Billboard Hot 100 list in the United States with Foolish at first place and Luv? at number two. Luv? second place. Let's celebrate the special occasion with us. Ashanti Shequoiya is also known as Ashanti and was born on the 13th of October, 1980 located in Glen Cove New York. Tina Douglas was her mother and Ken Kaide Thomas Douglas had earlier performed as a vocalist. Kenashia Shia is her younger brother. Douglas named Ashanti to honour the Ashanti Empire where women enjoyed power and influence. Douglas hoped Ashanti would follow in the footsteps of this. James's grandfather was a part of Martin Luther King Jr. as a civil rights advocate in the 1960s. Her mother discovered her talent by overhearing her singing Mary J. Blige's Reminisce. Ashanti was an part-time actress in Spike Lee's Malcolm X in 1992, and Ted Demme's Who's the Man? Also, Ashanti appeared in some music videos like 8-Off Ghettogirl and K.R.S. Act One MC's They Don't Even Know. After having been courted for a long time by various record companies, including Bad Boy, Jive and other companies, Ashanti struggled to be singer. Despite this she continued to play throughout New York and began hanging in the Murder Inc. recording studio hoping to get a major break. Ashanti performed as the vocalist backing the Big Pun's How We Roll. She also appeared in Fat Joe's "What's Luv?" Ja Rule's "Always on Time" as well as Fat Joe's What's Luv! The sample used in her debut single Foolish is from DeBarge's Stay with Me song from 1983. The debut album of Ashanti was released through Irv Gotti's Murder Inc. on the label in 2002. The Declaration The fourth studio album, debuted on the 3rd of June, 2008. Hey Baby was released for radio and digital on October 16, 2009. The actress starred in the movie Christmas in the City and was Latasha the character Montclair from Army Wives. Aitch sampled Rock wit U in his Baby on the 10th of March 2022.
